"Escape"

I was born into static,
A signal out of place —
Wired for wonder in a world
That worships the mundane.

The sky felt too low,
The ground too cold,
And every hallway echoed
With footsteps that weren’t mine.

They said,
“Fit in, be quiet, play along.”
But I only heard
The thrum of distant drums —
A rhythm pulling me
Somewhere far from here.

So I listened.

To chords that cracked the gray,
To melodies that whispered,
"You’re not alone. You’re just awake."

In sound, I found sanctuary —
A refuge wrapped in reverb,
Where walls dissolved
And stars leaned in to listen.

Notes became my language.
Beats became my breath.
And for a moment —
I was infinite.

I may be trapped in their world,
But music carved me a door.
And every time I play,
I step through it once more.
